The building site

Check before it is closed up, write down what is decided.

What does the architect do during the works?

The architect comes before the work is covered up, writes a report after each visit, confirms choices in writing, organises the handover and delivers the end-of-works file.

What we check before it is closed up

Base of the façade. Membrane, geotextile, washed gravel, drainage.

Insulation. Check for errors and for the type of materials installed.

Joinery. The window frame is checked by the contractor before the finishes.

Poorly protected insulation, a badly executed joint: spotted during the works, they are simple to correct. The architect points them out and asks the contractor to propose a solution, at its own cost if the defect is its responsibility. Discovered after the works, they often cost more, sometimes outside the warranty.

What is said is written down

  • After each visit: a report with findings, photos, responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Before each payment: a reported defect can justify waiting until it is corrected.
  • Site decisions: confirmed in writing before they are carried out.
  • The handover: a visit with you and the contractor, with the remarks listed.
  • The end: the reports and technical data sheets handed over by the contractors.
