Three bedrooms became two, around a dual-aspect living room.

The rented flat bore the marks of time and lack of maintenance: damaged floors, worn window frames, insufficient ventilation, signs of damp. The challenge went beyond a refresh: to make the flat healthier, more durable and easier to maintain.

The three-bedroom flat is restructured into two bedrooms and a dual-aspect living room.1 The walls are insulated, thermally and acoustically. Parquet in the bedrooms, light tiles everywhere else. As the bathroom has no window, a large-format marble-effect porcelain stoneware reflects the light.2

New joinery with up-to-date energy values and a C+ mechanical ventilation system with sensors, sized to the flat's actual volume, ensure a controlled air flow from the dry rooms to the wet rooms.

Beyond the design, the architect drew up the specifications, compared the quotes and supervised the works, reminding the contractor of the manufacturers' requirements and good building practice.
