A building renovated in stages, on a single grid.

Two scenarios for the same flat: the more modest one was built, the more ambitious one remains on paper.

Marked by time and successive alterations, the building was renovated in stages: insulation of the rear façade, conversion of a commercial space, refreshment of a first flat, reorganisation of a second, repair of leaks in the attic, renovation of the roof with solar panels.

The flats, built on an identical grid, served as a full-scale test bed. Two scenarios were drawn: one limits the changes, the other explores every square metre.13 Circulation between the rooms passes through a lobby that protects the privacy of the bedrooms. The three entrances are reduced to two, which improves acoustics and limits the number of fire-resistant doors.

The simple scenario, chosen for its feasibility and budget, made it possible to focus resources on the works common to all units, such as insulation. These works did not require an architect; coordination and scheduling held everything together.
