Two bathrooms: one redone, the other optimised.

Fix the damp at the source, then design every wall.

Repeated cycles of wetting and drying had weakened the joints: mould had appeared and water was seeping into the neighbouring walls.

The works begin by stripping the old materials and sorting the waste. A liquid waterproofing membrane is applied before laying large-format 1.2 × 1.2 m tiles, which reduce the number of joints, done in epoxy.2 In the walk-in shower, more varied non-slip tiles mark out a more intimate volume.

A suspended ceiling redesigns the lighting along the walls. The sockets are placed lower than the furniture, accessible but discreet, and away from the water supplies.1 The taps, built into the shower, were chosen for their repairability and the availability of spare parts.

The second bathroom is reworked without redoing the ceiling: a bespoke unit, a cornice with spotlights and a socket, powered from the old mirror connection. Two approaches: one redone entirely, the other making the most of what exists.
